Pumpkin is in Washington D.C.

Pumpkin’s visit to Washington DC to see cousins Stephen, Anna, and Rosa - November .

Pumpkin arrived on a plane with Aunt Rae for a visit with Stephen, Anna, and Rosa who live in Old Town Alexandria, just across the Potomac River from Washington DC, our nation’s capital.
Alexandria has been an important port city since the time the Native Americans lived here because of it’s access to the Atlantic Ocean by way of the Potomac River and was home to many of our forefathers including George Washington.

As soon as Rae and Pumpkin arrived, they went with Stephen to pick up Rosa from School. On Saturday, they went to the Old Town farmer’s market, the longest continually running farmers market in the US, and Pumpkin helped pick out apples. We also visited the Alexandria waterfront where you can see Washington DC in the background. Pumpkin also wrote about Alexandria in her journal so you will be able to read more when she returns. Pumpkin is off to New Berlin, Wisconsin next.

Frank Visiting the Macy Day Parade

Hello Proctor School!

This is Frank, Aidan's teddy bear. I was in Warwick, R.I. and I just arrived in NYC, four days ago, right before Thanksgiving!
I am staying at Damien's home (Aidan's cousin), in Manhattan. I was very tired when I arrived so I went straight to sleep in my box. We woke up very early on Thursday to go to the Thanksgiving day parade. The parade is organized by the Macy's department store and there are many clowns, marching bands and very big ballons. The parade starts at 82nd street and 8th Avenue and ends in front of Macy's on 34th street. This was a lot of fun and I am now ready for my next adventure!

See you soon,
Frank

Sunflower Has Made it to Brooklyn, New York

Hello!

Sunflower the bear has made it all the way to Brooklyn, New York.  Brooklyn is part of the 5 boroughs that make up New York City.  We traveled back to Brooklyn from Thanksgiving today, so it was a long day of driving. Sunflower is quite tired, so we got dressed in PJ's and are getting ready to go into bed soon. Lyndsley lives in an apartment in a building called a "brownstone." Brownstone buildings are brick homes that were build over 100 years ago. They are attached to their neighbors on both sides, I have attached a picture of my street - it is certainly different than Topsfield!

Tonight we are resting up for a fun and exciting couple of days in New York City!

Hi to everyone in Topsfield!

Love, Lyndsley and Sunflower

"Last Friday, we went to the Washington Monument and the White House. We walked around Capitol Hill and saw some other government buildings like the Treasury too. Later in the day we went on a field trip with Vanessa's classmates to the Pentagon! They didn't let us take any pictures inside though, but we learned all about the different military branches. D.C. has been so much fun and I can't wait to get to my next stop in Iowa!

I am on my way to Iowa, but I forgot to post these pictures from last week!"

Cuddles is Traveling

Wednesday, November 26, 2014 2:02 PM
Hello Andrew and classmates!

I have traveled to three states in the past few weeks.   My first stop was Celebration, Florida with Uncle Brad and Aunt Laura.  It was a great beginning.  Uncle Brad and I played Mario Bros on his “old school” Nintendo (8bit) system.   Have you ever played that?  It was a lot of fun!   They also took me to Epcot for an afternoon.  We enjoyed the last day of the Food & Wine Festival.   We have been enjoying hot tea each morning before they head off to work.  We chat about the unseasonable weather and plans for the day.   Once I am alone,  I talk to their other friends  Olaf, WALL-E, Goofy, and Sid the sloth.

I’m now in Virginia spending time with Uncle Brad, Aunt Laura and her family.   They brought me along for their annual trip to VA.  I spent the flight looking out the window of the plane.   I made some new friends in Virginia, Conall and Rowan.  They have been playing with me since we met.  We took a trip to Pennsylvania together to visit Aunt Laura’s grandma for her 86th birthday.  I played some Pokémon on DS with Rowan during the 3 hour drive.  I also shared some fried shrimp with Conall during Grandma’s birthday dinner.  I’m now relaxing in Virginia through Thanksgiving with Aunt Laura’s family.  On Friday, I’ll be traveling north to New Hampshire!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Brownie Has Arrived in Canada

Hi Piper & Mrs.Lampe's Class,

Brownie arrived in Calgary, Alberta Canada a week ago and has been well taken care of by Barratt and Jackson.
They have been reading him books and giving him lots of love. This weekend we took him around Calgary to see some sights. It was a bit chilly but we made sure he was warm. First we stopped at the Peace Bridge in downtown Calgary. This bridge was built in 2012 and crosses one of the two rivers, the Bow River, that meet downtown and divide the south and north part of the city. This bridge is only for walkers and cyclists and looks very cool in the lights at nighttime. Then we headed over to the Olympic Plaza...this is where the medal ceremonies were held in the 1988 Winter Olympics. Now it is an urban park and is used for skating in the winter. Then we took Brownie to see the home of the Calgary Stampede. This is an annual rodeo, exhibition and festival held every July for 10 days. The Stampede is over 100 years old, attracts over million visitors each year and is known as the greatest outdoor show on earth.

Our last stop was to check out the saddledome which is the home of the Calgary Flames NHL team as well as many other events and sports team which play here.

Barratt and Jackson are having a great time with Brownie and will send more updates soon.

Hi there Bode and Mrs. Lampe's Class

I am still enjoying my time in PA and recently spent some time in Philadelphia. I attended a professional hockey game with my tour guide and friend Carter. He told me all about hockey. It was a fast paced game and exciting to watch in person.

The highlight of my trip was seeing the Liberty Bell which is a symbol of our country's independence as you know. The Liberty Bell was sent to Philadelphia in 1752 and originally cracked when first rung after arrival in Philadelphia. I really learned a lot here and am grateful for the travel experience. Not many of my bear friends ever leave the woods : )

My host family is heading to my home state of Massachusetts so we are parting ways. I am preparing for a long journey to CA but am looking forward to seeing the sites in CA and feeling the warmth of the sun.

Take care and I will see you soon. I will have a lot to tell you!

Your Friend,
Teddy Tortaleenie
