Naples, Florida

After a full day at the beach we are going to share our bedroom with our cousin, Teddy who lives in Florida, full time. We are excited because tomorrow we get to go to the airport and meet Kevin and Katrina as they are spending a week with us. SOoooooooooooooooooo excited!! Hope we can sleep.

Here we are relaxing by one of the three pools in Forest Lakes Condominium where there are 352 units located on 20 acres abutting an 18 hole golf course.

The grounds are beautiful here. It is conveniently located within 2 miles from the beach and very close to shopping malls.

 After sitting by the pool, we decided to go for a swim. The temperature is 85 degrees and this pool is heated to 90 degrees.

Naples, Florida - Horizon Beach

We arrived here in Sunny Naples, Florida on March 16th after a 1633 mile journey in a box from Colorado. It was great to see daylight again. This is a picture of us getting out of our box on the Lanai of Kevin & Katrina's grandparents. The nickname for Naples is Naples on the Gulf which is approx. 16.4 square miles

Naples is a city in Collier County with a Population of approx. 20,600 Naples is the principal city of Naples-Marco Island, Florida. Naples is one of the wealthiest cities in the United States with the sixth highest per capita income in America. Real Estae is among the most expensive in the country, with houses for sale in excess of $40 million. The city was founded in 1880 by former Confederate general and Kentucky U.S. Senator, John Stuart Williams and his partner Walter N. Haldeman the publisher of the Louisville Courier-Journal.

The railroad reached Naples on Jan. 7, 1927 and linked Naples to Miami via the Tamiami Trail which is now Route 41 and was completed in 1928. Naples is located in Southwest Florida between Miami to the east and Fort Myers to the north.

Tourism is a major industry for the city. It is the home of major land reserves, including the Corkscrew Swamp, Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserves, Florida Panther National Wildlife Sanctuary, Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge and Picayue Strand State Forest. The Naples area is also home to the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens which dates back to 1919 and was recently purchased by the City of Naples.


It is also the home of Judith Sheindlin better know as Judge Judy, Bob Seger, rock and roll singer-songwriter/ musician and Larry Bird, former NBA basketball player, & coac and Mike Ditka former NFL player, coach and television commentator. These are only a few of the famous and well known people who live in Naples during the winter months..

We spent the day at Horizon Beach here in Sunny Naples. Temperature was 86 degrees and the water temp was 76 degrees. We got to play in the sand and did manage to get our paws wet. Of course this cooled us down a little. We saw dolphins playing in the water along with three sting rays.

We are going home to Kevin & Katrina's grandparents condo to rest as we have a big day tomorrow.
We are going to the airport to meet Kevin and Katrina.

Toffee Day 5

Good morning!  Time to keep filling you in on my vacation!  Today we stayed in LONDON!  Because this is Cousin Amy & Erin’s second time in London, we didn’t do too much of the normal sightseeing like they did the first time they visited.  But that is ok.  I got to be snuggled up in the backpack with my head popping out to see the city as we walked along.

We headed out early to go get some breakfast.  We found a cute little place called 26 Grains.  They serve porridge!   Do you know what that is?  We call it oatmeal here in the United States.  I found out that over half of the British population have a bowl of porridge for breakfast every day.  That is a lot of oatmeal!  We took pictures of our porridge because, wow!  Does your oatmeal look this pretty when you eat it at home?  I had my own little bowl of porridge (with honey), and I ate it all up because it was juuuuuussssttt right.  :0)

Later we stopped and had “High Tea”.  It was so fancy!  We each had our own tower of treats!  When our scone plate was empty, they just brought us more!  They didn’t have any honey for my tea or scone, so I tried something new.  I found out that I like lemon curd!  It isn’t as sweet as honey, but it was I was proud I tried a new thing.

We had a fun afternoon with friends of Cousin Amy’s who were in London at the same time!  We walked around and then rode the London Eye at night!  Have you seen the London Eye?  It is a ginormous Ferris wheel!  I was a little nervous to be up that high, since no tree I have ever climbed is that tall, but Cousin Amy held my paw  and I really enjoyed seeing all the lights of the city.

This was a long and busy day walking all around!  Time for bed so I could be ready for the last day!!

Toffee Day 4

I can’t believe I am going to say this again, but on Day 4 we woke up and took another train ride….this time to Brighton!  It is a seaside town on the English Channel! It is famous for it’s big pier that holds some carnival rides and an arcade.  It is open all year, but it really is popular during the summer time.  Everyone loves the beach, BUT…..

Their beach is only made up of ROCKS!    No sand!  I wasn’t so bothered by it, since I am a BEAR feet, but I don’t think you humans would enjoy it so much in your BARE feet!

There is also a well known merry-go-round on the beach too.  The horses are very colorful and each one has a name painted on it’s bridle!

I looked at them all, but I couldn’t find one that said “Eamonn” or “Toffee”….  :0(

I liked the color of the ocean here.  I am high above the water here, but don’t worry.  You can’t see it in the photo, but Cousin Amy is holding tight to my tag for safety!

Daisy and I went to Lasalle Bakery which is my favorite spot for coffee and treats off campus. We ordered a cupcake to share and had some delicious snickerdoodle flavored iced coffee!
