Hello Team Murphy!
Well, we made it to Montana. It was dark when we crossed over from ND & for about 3/4 of the way but luckily the moon was SO big & bright that it lit up all the snow covered hills so much that it looked like the ground was glowing. Jen said this made for much easier driving the truck on roads she'd never seen before, especially since the roads were icy for a long way.
We watched the state come to life as the sun came up and it was so very pretty. Montana is often called "big sky country" because the sky indeed seems bigger from the lack of obstructions on the horizon like sky scrapers & such. We saw some of the Rocky Mountains and this morning we drove right through the main road leading into Yellowstone National Park.
We were on the lookout for some of the local wildlife which includes bison (or buffalo), elk, grizzly bears, wolves & bighorn sheep but we didn't see any of those but Doug & I saw a herd of about 200 pronghorn deer (which look like antelope) after Jen went out back to sleep and they were really neat to see. I think it was too cold for most of those animals first thing this morning!
I still have 3 new states still to see on this trip,
-Murphster
